Author Marlena Toohey writes, "It has been ten years since my first book on black glass was published! In that time, I have received hundreds of letters and phone calls from collectors who were glad to finally have some reference to their own unique collections of black glass. While they were thrilled to have this information, I was also informed it was still not enough."
To meet this need, Marlena prepared the present volume. A labor of love taking several years, it shows nearly 1,200 pieces with only a few repeats from A Collector's Guide to Black Glass.
Featuring black glass from the early 1900s to the present, Book 2 illustrates almost every conceivable shape -- animals, perfume bottles, tableware, kitchenware, jewelry, lamps, miniatures, plates, stands, and much more. Companies run the gamut from Avon to Westmoreland. Companies receiving special attention include Boyd, Cambridge, Fenton, Imperial, L.E. Smith, Tiara, Tiffin and Viking. Of special interest is the significant number of imports form Italy, China, Taiwan, and other countries that are identified.
Captions give dates and attributions, when known, and suggested current prices. There is a section on company trademarks, and the book concludes with a useful index. All admirers of black glass will be delighted with this informative book.
